History
The young Tenor was born in the Ruhrgebiet in Germany and grew up in Australia. He studied Archaeology and Drama at the Australian National University and played many different roles in Musicals in Sydney and in Canberra, such as Bernardo in WEST SIDE STORY, Henrik in A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, Marius in LES MISÉRABLES and Ché in EVITA. He then decided for a Classical Direction in his career and studied Opera Voice at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. During and after his studies he regularly guested in the Extra Chorus of Opera Australia in Sydney. His Opera Debut was playing Tamino in Die ZAUBERFLÖTE in Newcastle. Competitions, Concerts and Oratorios as a soloist followed such as The MESSIAH in the Sydney Town Hall for the Combined Churches Choir and MAGNIFICAT, LE DELUGE and the EAST TIMOR REQUIEM under the baton of Christopher Bowen for the University of Sydney Graduate Choir.
Roy won the 1999 City of Sydney Tenor Award and was a Finalist in two of the most prestigious singing Competitions for Young Opera singers, The City of Sydney Macdonalds Aria Competition in 2000 and the Royal Covent Garden Opera Award in 2001. Further concerts in Australia followed with Companies such as OPERA AFLOAT and THE AUSTRALIAN THREE TENORS.
Roy's first engagement in Germany was as Hanfstaengl, and Von Bülow/Josef Kainz in the Füssen Musical production LUDWIG II which he also played in the revival in Münich in 2005. IHe then went to Stuttgart as Ensemble-Swing/Cover loiPhantom und Raoul in Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA for Stage Entertainment, which he has played since August again in the Colloseum Theater in Essen. In Baden bei Wien he played the Role Prinz Lilo Taro from DIE BLUME VON HAWAII and in the beginning of 2006 played the Sheriff von Nottingham in the New Musical ROBIN HOOD in Bremen and Müncih for LaBelle Musicals. Roy is also a popular solist for Galas and Concerts in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Roy is currently realising his dream to cover his favorite Musical Star, Anthony Warlow in the Australasian Tour of the Phantom of the Opera. As well as covering Anthony's role of The Phantom, Roy is also in the Ensemble and covering the Role of Raoul, Vicomte De Chagny.

Der junge Tenor wurde im Ruhrgebiet geboren und wuchs in Australien auf. Er studierte Archäologie und spielte viele Musicalrollen in Canberra, sowie in Sydney, wie z. B. Bernado in WEST SIDE STORY, Henrik in A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC, Marius in LES MISÉRABLES und Ché in EVITA. Danach entschied er sich für die klassische Gesangausbildung am Sydney Conservatorium. Während seine Ausbildung war er Gast im Chor der OPERA AUSTRALIA in Sydney. Sein Opern Debut gab er in der ZAUBERFLÖTE als Tamino, in Newcastle Australien . Es folgten Wettbewerbe, Konzerte und Oratorien als Solist, z. B. in MESSIAS in der Sydney Town Hall, MAGNIFICAT, LE DELUGE und der Welt Uraufführung EAST TIMOR REQUIEM bei Christopher Bowen for Sydney University: Roy Weissensteiner hat den CITY OF SYDNEY TENOR AWARD 1999 gewonnen und war Finalist für City of Sydney Operatic Aria Competition 2000 und Royal Covent Garden Opera Award 2001. Weitere Konzerte in Australien folgten u.a. THE AUSTRALIAN THREE TENORS and OPERA AFLOAT. Seine erste Station in Deutschland war der Hanfstaengl, und Von Bülow/Josef Kainz in der Füssener Musicalproduktion LUDWIG II mit der auch in München 2005 zu sehen war. Im Anschluss ging er nach Stuttgart und stand als Ensemble-Swing/ Zweite Besetzung Phantom und Raoul in Andrew Lloyd Webber's DAS PHANTOM DER OPER für Stage Entertainment auf der Bühne; in August macht er das wieder bei der Colloseum Theater in Essen. In Baden bei Wien übernahm er die Rolle des Prinz Lilo Taro aus DIE BLUME VON HAWAII und im anfang dieses jahr hat er der Sheriff von Nottingham gemacht für das Musical ROBIN HOOD gemacht in Bremen und München für LaBelle Musicals. Roy ist außerdem gefragte Solist bei zahlreichen klassischen Konzerten und Galas in Deutschland und der Schweiz.
